Privacy

Bret and I both work in jobs where confidentiality is imperative. So much so that a breach in that confidentiality in any way could cost us our jobs.

Part of blogging is telling about the everyday goings on in your life. Letting people know you, your family, things that are happening. I have worked very hard to maintain a balance between writing about things that go on in my (and my family's lives) and maintaining that confidentiality of my work and Bret's. It hasn't been enough. Despite my efforts Bret's program director has received "concerns" that hospital policy has been violated (or at least has come close). The director has assured Bret that he has not seen any violations but that he wanted to caution us as to the concern.

In the past few months I have also had some unfair and mean comments left on my blog (hence the comment approval change). I started this blog to write out a lot of the feelings and thoughts that I had regardless of whether or not anyone read one word. In fact for a very long time no one did. I love that I have people who enjoy reading what I write and the comments that are left.

Call it hormones or being over sensitive but for now I am upset. I have gone back and read the questioned posts and still stand by the fact that I have not violated hospital policy nor have I violated confidentiality standards. So to deal with the issue as best as I know how to for now I have decided to make the blog private. I plan to automatically invite all of my subscribed readers and friends and family that I know read already. If you are a regular reader that I don't know about feel free to send me an email and I will add you to the list. I plan to make the switch by the end of the week. Thanks for your understanding.

Oh, Adriana, what a bother!

So many of my favorite blogs have disappeared lately, though, that I am very glad to hear you are just taking yours "private" instead of quitting blogging altogether.

Hang in there.

I agree with LegalMist - what a bother! I guess this is why many people operate under an alias for blogging.

Some people are just crazy.

Please add me to the list. I really enjoy reading your blog. I love the stories about the kids. By the way I tried your Stromboli recipe last week. My husband liked it so much he asked if we could have it again this week. Feel to ask me questions if you want to find out more about me.

Adriana,
I also work in a job where I'm not allowed to talk about work stuff. I don't feel like you've violated anything, especially hippa laws. Glad you're not quitting and just going private. Yours is one of the blogs I check every day!!

Thanks!!

Jealousy, pure and simple.

You keep going on with your bad self, even if you have to do it in private.

Count me in. :)
