Emily's 7th Birthday Party

Before we left for Hawaii Emily had already decided that she wanted to have a Hawaiian themed birthday party. It was really great to have family at our birthday party for the first time in four years. We love being back in KS and even though we were still living out of boxes (sort of) and didn't have a lot of furniture yet we had a great time. In typical Kansas fashion the temperature reached well over one hundred degrees for the day. It was hot but fun.

For activities the goal was to keep it simple. We put together fun Hawaiian frames, jumped on the trampoline, had a dance party in Emily's room, and sand art.

Emily was very clear about what kind of cake she wanted and I was glad that it was simple and fun to make. We made flip flops (pink and purple of course).

For food we tried something different and made shish-kabobs, pasta salad, potato salad, and lots of fresh fruit. The food turned out amazing!
